City of Glendale Office Hours, Services and Schedule Changes
The city of Glendale will be closed on Monday, May 25, in observance of the Memorial Day holiday, however many city services and facilities will still be available for residents’ convenience and entertainment.
All Glendale regular, Monday residential garbage, recycling and bulk trash collection services will take place on May 25. The Glendale Municipal Landfill and the Solid Waste customer service office will be closed on May 25 in observance of Memorial Day. There will be many public transportation options available in Glendale on May 25. The city’s fixed route bus services will operate on a regular schedule, and there will be GUS Bus 1 vehicles running that day on a holiday schedule from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. However, GUS Bus routes 2 and 3 will not be in operation on May 25. Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) service will be provided, as usual, on Memorial Day. Glendale’s Express/RAPID bus service will not be available on May 25. Glendale MicroTransit (Dial-A-Ride) service will be provided by reservation only, and reservations must be made by noon on May 22. The MicroTransit office will be closed on May 25.
Glendale Public Libraries will be closed on Memorial Day and will reopen at 10 a.m. on May 26.
Residents and visitors can make a splash with family members and friends at the city’s pools and splash pads. Foothills Recreation and Aquatics Center at 5600 W. Union Hills Drive and Rose Lane Aquatics Center at 5003 W. Marlette Ave. will open for the season on May 23. They will be available for open swimming from 1 to 5 p.m. May 23-30, including on Memorial Day. After May 30, the pools will be closed on Sundays and Mondays, and open from 1 to 5 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays for the rest of the summer. Glendale’s splash pads also will open on May 23, and they are open from noon to 7 p.m. daily for the season. The splash pads are located here:
- Greenway Granada Park: 73rd Avenue and Greenway Road
- Heroes Regional Park: 83rd and Missouri avenues
- O'Neil Park: 64th and Missouri avenues
- Sunset Palms Park: 54th and Sweetwater avenues
- Sycamore Grove: 86th Lane and Emil Rovey Parkway
All the city’s recreation centers and programs, including REC on Wheels, will be closed on Memorial Day. They will reopen, except for Rose Lane Community Center, O’Neil Recreation Center and Glendale Community Center, on May 26. Those three centers will be closed for staff training May 26-30. The Glendale Municipal Airport will remain open on Memorial Day, but the airport administrative office will be closed that day. The airport terminal will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on May 25, allowing customers and visitors access to the lobby and restrooms.
Glendale’s Convention & Visitors Bureau will be closed on May 25.
