The Great American Flag Tour

In anticipation of America’s 250th anniversary, Glendale Mayor Jerry P. Weiers will complete his seven-year journey of raising an American flag made here in Arizona, at all state capitols throughout the United States. To this date, Mayor Weiers has flown his flag over 49 state capitals, with his tour ending on Saturday, October 25 at Arizona’s State Capitol, marking 50 out of 50 states complete.

“What a journey this has been,” said Mayor Weiers. “The patriotism I have witnessed while traveling across this great country has been incredible. I am excited to raise the flag one more time here in our great state of Arizona and hope all Arizonans will join me in honoring our flag as a symbol of unity – recognizing we are 50 States, 1 Nation!”

The ceremony on October 25 will feature an actor and actress portraying General George Washington and his wife Martha, KTAR’s Mike Broomhead, along with other special guests.
