Throughout his life, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. advocated for peace, unity, and service. He was committed to creating change in his community and so are the many volunteers here in Glendale. MLK Day of Service is an annual to the life of Dr. King and also a way to donate vitamin-rich citrus to families in need. In partnership with HandsOn Greater Phoenix and St. Mary's Food Bank Alliance, we are looking for over 200 volunteers to help glean fruit. Along with the fresh fruit donation, this project helps to beautify a Glendale landmark, keeping this community perfect for living working and playing! To register to volunteer, please complete the form.

Citrus Collection! To increase our impact, our Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service will be a site for the community to drop off their excess citrus from their property and donate it to the St. Mary’s Food Bank Alliance. Please bring your freshly picked citrus (all varieties) to Sahuaro Ranch Park or Manistee Ranch Park on Saturday, January 17, 2026, between 9am and 12pm. We will have volunteers ready to accept your donations.

The Community Programs Division is seeking teams of volunteers to participate in a citywide street clean-up with the goal of removing 5000 pounds of trash and debris from the streets of Glendale. Teams should be made up of 10-20 volunteers and will be assigned a one mile stretch of road to clean. Tools will be provided to complete the project (trash pickers, trash bags, gloves, safety vests and snacks). Team leads will be able to pick up the tools from our office (7677 W.
