The city of Glendale has received a 2026 Excellence in Economic Development Award from the International Economic Development Council (IEDC) for its Experience Glendale Day celebration, held to commemorate the Convention & Visitors Bureau’s rebrand launch.

Glendale’s Economic Development Team will be recognized at the IEDC 2026 Annual Conference in New Orleans, Louisiana, October 25–28. The IEDC’s Excellence in Economic Development Awards recognize innovative economic development projects and programs that make a meaningful impact in their communities.

"Glendale is leading the field of excellence in economic development with its Experience Glendale Day project. This award shines a spotlight on Glendale’s commitment to its community and showcases the significant impact of economic development,” said Nathan Ohle, IEDC President and CEO.

Each year, IEDC honors economic development organizations, government entities, initiatives, and programs that consistently demonstrate excellence in the field. The honorees lead transformational projects that revitalize communities and advance the practice of economic development.

“I am pleased to see our Economic Development team being recognized for their efforts in rebuilding our Convention and Visitors Bureau as Experience Glendale,” said Glendale Mayor Jerry P. Weiers.

“As our city continues to grow, we recognize the need to adapt and evolve. This rebrand better reflects the work our team is doing to promote Glendale on a global stage. I am grateful for this recognition from the International Economic Development Council and, most importantly, for the continued hard work and dedication of our Experience Glendale team.”

This year's awards take on special meaning, as IEDC celebrates its 100th anniversary. In recognizing excellence in economic development, IEDC and its partners are celebrating successes and shining a spotlight on programs that inspire and prepare the field for the next century of economic development.
