Mayor Weiers congratulates and welcomes Councilmember Malnar to Vice Mayor role

Glendale Mayor Jerry P. Weiers today congratulated Councilmember Raymond “Ray” Malnar on his appointment by the Glendale City Council to serve as Vice Mayor.

“I am excited for Councilmember Malnar to begin his service as our Vice Mayor,” said Glendale Mayor Jerry P. Weiers. “He is a proven leader with nearly a decade of service on our council. He has a strong commitment to public service and approaches every decision with the best interests of our residents firmly in mind.”

Mayor Weiers continued, “I would also like to thank Councilmember Tolmachoff for her year of service as our Vice Mayor.”

Vice Mayor Malnar brings a strong and diverse professional background to the role, with extensive experience in finance, accounting, information systems, business management, government affairs, and facility maintenance. He is actively engaged in regional and local leadership, currently serving on or having served on numerous boards and committees, including the Code Review Committee, Council Business Review Committee, Audit Committee, Maricopa Association of Governments Economic Development Committee, WestMarc Executive Board, Arizona League of Cities and Towns Policy Committee, and the West-MEC School District Governing Board, among others.

Prior to his service on the City Council, Malnar owned and operated a valley-wide flooring maintenance and restoration company for 28 years, following a successful career in corporate accounting and finance management.

“I am thrilled at the confidence the Council has in me to serve as the Vice Mayor,” said Councilmember Ray Malnar. “I look forward to serving our citizens and our great city in this new capacity.”

Vice Mayor Malnar and his wife, Mary, have called Glendale home since 1990. They are the proud parents of five children and grandparents to 10 grandchildren. Malnar holds a Master of Business Administration, a Bachelor of Arts in Speech Communication, and a Bachelor of Science in Finance from the University of Utah.
