Critical Incident Community Briefings

The Glendale Police Department produces “Critical Incident Community Briefings” for events such as officer involved shootings. Critical Incident Community Briefings will attempt to show relevant video footage as well as other evidence related to these cases and discuss general investigative procedures. The purpose of these briefings is to provide information to our community in a timely manner without providing conclusions, as many of these incidents are still under investigation.

01/08/2025 Critical Incident Briefing

This is the “Critical Incident Briefing” of an officer involved shooting that took place on Wednesday, January 8, 2025. The incident took place near the area of 47th Avenue and Diana Avenue.

09/04/2024 Critical Incident Briefing

This is the “Critical Incident Briefing” of an officer involved shooting that took place on Wednesday, September 4, 2024. The incident happened at a home near 59th Avenue and Thunderbird Road.

04/28/2024 Critical Incident Briefing

This is the “Critical Incident Briefing” of an officer involved shooting that took place on Sunday, April 28, 2024. The incident happened near a business located in the area of 51st Avenue and Myrtle Avenue.

04/03/2024 Critical Incident Briefing

This is a “Critical Incident Briefing” of an officer involved shooting that took place on Wednesday, April 3, 2024. The incident happened near the 65-hundred block of West Cactus Road, after officers received information of a person driving erratically and pointing a weapon at people

The incident happened near the intersection of 53rd Avenue and Maryland Avenue after officers were responding to the scene of a vehicle collision where one of the drivers ran from the scene

This is a “Critical Incident Briefing” of an officer involved shooting that took place on Thursday, August 25, 2022. The incident happened near the area of 69th Avenue and McLellan Road. Officers were responding to the area after reports from an individual saying they were being attacked inside their home.

07/06/2022 Critical Incident Briefing

This is a “Critical Incident Briefing” of an officer involved shooting that took place on Wednesday, July 6, 2022. The incident happened near the area of 63rd Avenue and Maryland Avenue. Officers were responding to the area after locating a reported stolen vehicle.

04/14/2022 Critical Incident Briefing

This is a “Critical Incident Briefing” of an officer involved shooting that took place on Thursday, April 14, 2022. The incident took place near the area of 61st Avenue and Olive Avenue. Officers were responding to a domestic disturbance at a nearby apartment complex.

This is a “Critical Incident Briefing” of an officer involved shooting that took place on Wednesday, November 3, 2021. The incident occurred near the area of 62nd Avenue and Maryland Avenue. Officers were responding to the area on a complaint that there was an individual who was damaging cars in the area.

This is a “Critical Incident Briefing” of an officer involved shooting that took place on Tuesday, September 21, 2021. The incident occurred near the intersection of 60th Avenue and Bethany Home Road. The incident began after neighbors called in to 9-1-1 to say they heard shots fired in the area.

This is a “Critical Incident Briefing” of an officer involved shooting that took place on Tuesday, July 13, 2021. The incident occurred near the intersection of 80th Avenue and San Miguel Road. The incident happened after an off duty officer noticed a car driving erratically.

This is a “Critical Incident Briefing” of an officer involved shooting that took place on Sunday, May 9, 2021 near the intersection of Grand Avenue and Bethany Home Road. The incident began after officers responded to a robbery call at a convenience store located near that intersection.

This is a “Critical Incident Briefing” of an officer involved shooting that took place on Monday, May 3, 2021 near the intersection of 59th Avenue and Northern Avenue. The incident began after officers were alerted of a burglary alarm call.

This is a “Critical Incident Briefing” of an officer involved shooting that took place on Sunday, April 18, 2021 near the intersection of 61st Avenue and Lamar Road. The incident began after Glendale 9-1-1 was alerted to shots fired in the area where there was a shooting involving two parties.

01/30/2021 Critical Incident Briefing

This is a "Critical Incident Briefing" of an officer involved shooting that took place on January 30, 2021 near the intersection of 59th Avenue and Hayward Avenue. An individual called into Glendale 9-1-1 and told dispatchers he had a weapon and made threatening comments towards police.

12/22/2020 Critical Incident Briefing

This is a "Critical Incident Briefing" of an officer involved shooting that took place on December 22, 2020 near the intersection of 59th Lane and Northern Avenue. An officer located an individual who was attempting to break into a home in that neighborhood.

08/14/2020 Critical Incident Briefing

This is a "Critical Incident Briefing" of an officer involved shooting that took place on August 14, 2020 near the intersection of Black Canyon Highway and Camelback Road. Officers located an individual inside a stolen vehicle. The shooting took place as officers attempted to make an arrest.

12/09/2019 Critical Incident Briefing

This is a "Critical Incident Briefing" of an officer involved shooting that took place on December 9, 2019 near the intersection of 43rd Avenue and McDowell Road in Phoenix. The shooting was a result of a call of shots fired in the area of 95th Avenue and Camelback Road.

11/04/2019 Critical Incident Briefing

This is a "Critical Incident Briefing" of an officer involved shooting that took place on November 4, 2019 near the 43-hundred block of Olive Avenue. Officers were responding to a call of an adult male acting erratically and who was waiving a sharp object.

10/13/2019 Critical Incident Briefing

This is a "Critical Incident Briefing" of an officer involved shooting that took place on October 13, 2019 near the 78-hundred block of 68th Avenue. This shooting involved a juvenile and took place during an investigation of an illegal party taking place in an industrial district.
