Holiday Hours: Christmas, New Year’s Day

The city of Glendale offices will be closed on Christmas, Dec. 25, and New Year’s Day, Jan. 1, but some services will still be available to residents around the winter holidays.
Glendale’s administrative offices will close at noon on Christmas Eve, Dec. 24. Then the city’s administrative offices will be closed all day on Christmas, Dec. 25, and New Year’s Day, Jan. 1.
The garbage, trash and recycling services that would normally be provided on Thursday, Dec. 25, will instead be offered on Dec. 26. Glendale’s garbage, trash and recycling services will run on a Friday schedule on Saturday, Dec. 27. The Glendale Municipal Landfill will be open from 7:30 a.m. to noon on Dec. 24 and closed on Dec. 25. This landfill will be open its normal hours, from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., on Dec. 26. Glendale’s landfill will be in operation its usual hours, from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., on Dec. 31, and then closed on Jan. 1. The landfill’s regular hours will be in effect on Jan. 2. There will be some public transportation options for people in Glendale on Christmas Eve, Christmas and New Year’s Day. The Glendale OnBoard microtransit services will run from 7 a.m. to noon on Dec. 24 and should be booked that same day. Anyone who would like to reserve an OnBoard microtransit service for a ride on Christmas, Dec. 25, must make their reservation by noon on Dec. 24. Those who want to use an OnBoard microtransit service on Jan. 1 should make their reservations by noon on Dec. 31. Paratransit and Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) public transportation will not be impacted by Christmas or New Year’s Day. GUS Bus 1 will be available its usual hours, from 7 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Dec. 24 while GUS Bus 2 will operate from 9 a.m. to noon and GUS Bus 3 will run from 8 a.m. to noon Christmas Eve. On Dec. 25 and Jan. 1, only GUS Bus 1 will be running, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. but GUS Bus 2 and 3 will not be in service. Visit Valley Metro to plan your next trip or contact Customer Service at 602-253-5000.
Glendale Public Libraries will be closed on Dec. 24 and 25 and Jan. 1 but will be open for their usual hours on Dec. 31.
Rose Lane Community Center, O’Neil Recreation Center and Glendale Community Center will be open from 7 a.m. to noon on Dec. 24 and closed on Christmas Day, Dec. 25. They will be open from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Dec. 26 and closed on Dec. 27. Rose Lane Community, O’Neil Recreation and Glendale Community centers will be open from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Dec. 31, then closed on New Year’s Day, Jan. 1, and back open Jan. 2 from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Foothills Recreation and Aquatics Center (FRAC) will close at noon on Dec. 24, will be closed on Dec. 25 and will reopen for its usual hours on Dec. 26. The Glendale Adult Center will also close at noon on Dec. 24, then be closed on Dec. 25 and reopen for its normal hours on Dec. 26. FRAC and the Glendale Adult Center will be open regular hours on Dec. 31, closed on Jan. 1 and then will reopen for normal hours on Jan. 2. The Glendale Municipal Airport will remain open, as it always is, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. However, the airport’s administrative office will close at noon on Dec. 24 and be closed all day on Christmas, Dec. 25. That office will be open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Dec. 26. The airport’s administrative office will be open from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Dec. 31 and it will be closed all day on Jan. 1. It will be open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Jan. 2.
And the Glendale Convention & Visitors Bureau will close at noon on Dec. 24 and be closed all day Dec. 25 and Jan. 1. It will be open on Dec. 31.
