City of Glendale to dedicate and rename downtown park as Veteranos Park
Glendale Mayor Jerry P. Weiers and Councilmember Leandro Baldenegro invite the community to the Veteranos Park Dedication Ceremony honoring the courage, service, and sacrifice of our nation’s Veterans. The event will include the installation of three newly illuminated flagpoles and remarks from local dignitaries and Veterans’ representatives.
A special highlight will recognize Glendale resident and U.S. Army Veteran Matt Madrid, who served during the Vietnam War. Though awarded the Purple Heart and Bronze Star, Mr. Madrid was never formally presented with his medals. During the ceremony, he will finally be pinned with these long-overdue honors.
