Glendale Parks & Recreation Youth Scholarship Program

The Glendale Parks & Recreation Department offers scholarships to help Glendale youth (ages 17 and under) participate in recreation programs. Scholarships are funded through donations from local businesses and individuals and are awarded based on household income and family size.

How to Apply

  1. Download and complete the [Youth Scholarship Application Form (PDF, 209KB)].
  2. Submit in person or by mail with required documents to:

    Glendale, AZ 85302
  3. Applications must be complete and received at least 7 business days before the program start date.

     

Required Documentation

Proof of income and Glendale residency are required.

  • Income: Recent pay stubs, self-employment tax forms, child support/alimony documents, government assistance letters, or student loan/grant documentation.
  • Residency: Glendale utility bill, phone bill, vehicle registration, or other proof of address (with matching name and date).

Do not send originals or bank statements.

FAQs

Who can apply?
Glendale residents with children 17 or younger. Applications are reviewed individually using a sliding fee scale.

Which programs are covered?
Scholarships are available for designated Glendale Parks & Recreation programs.

Are programs free with a scholarship?
No. A minimum $5 fee per program/class is required. Late fees are the applicant’s responsibility and cannot be covered by scholarship funds.

Is there a maximum award?
Yes. The Scholarship Coordinator will inform you of the maximum allowed for your family.

When should I apply?
Submit your application at least 7 business days before the program’s registration deadline. You’ll be contacted within 7 business days once all documents are received. Placement depends on space availability.

Who reviews my application?
Only the Scholarship Program Coordinator (or designee). All information is confidential.

Where do I register if approved?
At the Parks & Recreation Main Office only. Online or onsite registrations are not accepted.

Do I need to reapply?
Yes. Scholarships must be renewed each year.

How are scholarships funded?
Through donations. Awards are given on a first-come, first-served basis as funds allow.

Can I give back?
Yes! Volunteering and sharing how the scholarship helped your family are appreciated (but not required).
