Volunteers
The Glendale Police Department is excited to offer rewarding volunteer opportunities for our citizens. We are thankful to those who are looking to get involved in serving our community. If you are looking to gain experience in the law enforcement field or give back to your community, consider a volunteer position with the Glendale Police Department.
We currently are not accepting applications for 2025. Please check back periodically for future openings.
Volunteer Requirements
Due to the sensitive nature of information and facilities that our volunteers are exposed to, all applicants are required to successfully complete the following steps for placement.
Application Submission
We are currently not accepting applications for 2025.
- Must be at least 18 years old to apply.
- Applications completed Electronically will not be accepted!

Selection Committee
- All applications received by the application deadline will move onto our Selection Committee for initial review.
- Applications chosen by our Selection Committee will be contacted by the Glendale Police Department Volunteer Coordinator with instructions for the fingerprint phase.
Fingerprints
- If selected to move forward in the process, applicants will be contacted to schedule a fingerprint appointment.
- Once applicants have completed the fingerprint appointment, applications will be moved into the background phase.
- Backgrounds can take anywhere from 4-6 weeks.
Acceptance
- Accepted applicants will be notified by the Volunteer Coordinator, Jamie Castiglione.
- Part of the acceptance process, the applicants will be asked to provide their availability for their volunteer schedule to be built.
- Upon acceptance, volunteers will be expected to complete a minimum four hours a month be considered an active volunteer with the Glendale Police Department.
- Volunteers will be provided orientation and placement information at the time of the placement notification.
Opportunities
Some opportunities may or may not be available at the time of your Volunteer placement and/or change prior to placement or after placement based on department needs.
At this time, Volunteer opportunities are Not available on nights and weekends. Volunteer hours must be completed during operating hours to the public which is Monday - Friday from 8:00 am - 4:00 pm. Volunteers are required to complete a minimum of 4 hours a month.
Records
The Glendale Police Department’s Records department is the central hub for our agency. They are responsible for maintaining customer service to the community for public records requests, processing body cam redactions, processing court requests, and directs the public to the appropriate division.
Detention / City Jail
Volunteers will work with the Glendale Detention Officers to assist with completing paperwork, filing, and answering phones. Volunteers will need to be able to work within specific guidelines and maintain confidentiality.
Property and Evidence
Volunteers will learn to process DPS lab result returns for case follow up by detectives, assist with the weekly inventory process, and item disposition paperwork. Volunteers will need to maintain confidentiality given the sensitive nature to this department. Skillsets that are helpful in Property and Evidence include: computer skills, inventory skills, and working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
Disclosure
- Must be able to lift 30-50 pounds.
- The property room is very tight quarters-must be able to move freely in limited spaces.
- Should be able to read sequential numbering systems.
- Should not be allergic or have negative reactions to massive amounts of dirt, drugs, or items with rancid odors, etc.
Please note that as a volunteer, working in property and evidence, you will be exposed to possible contaminants, drug items that could cause physical harm, and other evidentiary items that are not in your normal life. You may also see people at the public window that you would not necessarily have direct contact with normally.
Victim Assistance Volunteers
Victim Assistance volunteers provide emotional support, criminal justice education & advocacy, and community information and referrals to crime victims, witnesses, and their families. Volunteers may:
- Help facilitate victim input for Initial Appearance court hearings
- Provide information on how to get a protective order
- Answer questions about the criminal justice process
- Assist with multiple administrative tasks located at the Glendale Family Advocacy Center
