Public Housing, Housing Choice Vouchers, and Project-Based Vouchers help low-income families and individuals find safe and affordable homes in Glendale. With a voucher, families pay part of their income for rent and utilities, making housing easier to afford.

We are not accepting applications at this time.

 

Who can apply?

To apply for a Housing Choice Voucher, you must meet these requirements:

  • Income: Your total income must be within the limits set by the GHA.
  • Citizenship: You must be a U.S. citizen or have eligible immigration status.
  • Background Check: Everyone in your household who is 16 or older must pass a background check.

When calling, have the following information ready:

  • Social Security Number (e.g., 999-99-9999)
  • Date of Birth (format: MM/DD/YYYY)

How to Submit Your Request for the Housing Voucher Lottery

To be included in the lottery drawing, you must submit your request in one of the following ways:

How can I get help with my application?

Need Help with Your Application?

If you need assistance with the application process, we are here to help. This includes:

  • People with disabilities
  • People who are deaf or hard of hearing
  • People who are visually impaired
  • People with reading disabilities
  • People who need help with language translation

How to Get Help

You can request reasonable accommodations, modifications, auxiliary aids, or other services, and our staff will assist you.

Important Notes

  • Free translation services are available.
  • Please make your request for assistance as early as possible, even before the pre-application period begins.

How many applications can I submit?

Only one application per household, per program will be accepted, households may submit interest for one or both program at the same time.

Who can receive priority placement?

Priority Placement Criteria for the Waiting List

If selected for the waiting list, the City of Glendale gives priority to individuals or households with the following characteristics:

  • Live, Work, or Previously Lived in Glendale
  • Employment Status or Special Conditions:
    • Employed
    • Elderly (62 or older)
    • Disabled
    • Military (active duty or veteran)
  • Current Housing Situation:
    •  Homeless
    • At risk of homelessness
  • Victims of Domestic Violence (including assault, dating violence, sexual assault, stalking, etc.)
  • Displaced by Government Action or Disaster

Do I have to be a U.S. Citizen to apply for this program?

Eligibility Requirements

  • Citizenship or Immigration Status:
    At least one member of your household must be a U.S. citizen or have a qualifying immigration status. This eligible person does not need to be the one filling out the pre-application and does not need to be an adult.

  • Privacy on the Pre-Application:
    You will not need to provide information about citizenship/immigration status or Social Security numbers on the pre-application.

  • Income and Screening Requirements:
    If your household is selected, you must meet income eligibility and other screening requirements.

What if I can’t access a computer or the internet?

If you do not have a computer or internet, you can go to any of our four Glendale Public Libraries for help. They are open every day of the week.

You can also pick up paper applications at the Glendale Community Housing Office. We have these forms in different languages and in braille. We are located at:
